چکیده

In this paper, we derive recurrence relations for cumulative distribution functions (cdf’s) of bivariate t and extended skew-t distributions. These recurrence relations are over ν (the degrees of freedom), and starting from the known results for ν = 1 and ν = 2, they will allow for the recursive evaluation of the distribution function for any other positive integral value of ν. Then, we consider a linear combination of order statistics from a bivariate t distribution with an arbitrary mean vector and show that its cdf is a mixture of cdf’s of the extended skew-t distributions. This mixture form, along with the explicit expressions of the cdf’s of the extended skew-t distributions, enables us to derive explicit expressions for the cdf of the linear combination for any positive integral value of ν. © 2009 Elsevier B.V. A New Method for Generating Continuous Bivariate Distribution Families

Recently, it has been observed that a new method for generating continuous distributions, T - X family, can be quite effectively used to analyze the data in one dimension. The aim of this study is to generalize this method to two dimensional space so that the marginals would have T - X distributions. So, several examples and properties of this family have been presented. As ...

A bivariate F distribution with marginals on arbitrary numerator and denominator degrees of freedom, and related bivariate beta and t distributions

The classical bivariate F distribution arises from ratios of chi-squared random variables with common denominators. A consequent disadvantage is that its univariate F marginal distributions have one degree of freedom parameter in common. In this paper, we add a further independent chisquared random variable to the denominator of one of the ratios and explore the extended bivariate F distributio...

Linear mixed models for skew-normal/independent bivariate responses with an application to periodontal disease.

Bivariate clustered (correlated) data often encountered in epidemiological and clinical research are routinely analyzed under a linear mixed model (LMM) framework with underlying normality assumptions of the random effects and within-subject errors. However, such normality assumptions might be questionable if the data set particularly exhibits skewness and heavy tails. Using a Bayesian paradigm...

The multivariate slash and skew-slash student t distributions

In this article, we introduce the multivariate slash and skew-slash t distributions which provide alternative choices in simulating and fitting skewed and heavy tailed data. We study their relationships with other distributions and give the densities, stochastic representations, moments, marginal distributions, distributions of linear combinations and characteristic functions of the random vect...

Skew distributions and application to analyzing Mobarakeh steel company medical data

Nowadays there has been an increasing interest in more flexible distributions like skew distributions that can represent observed behavior more closely. These distributions are often used in the medical and behavioral sciences for real-valued random variables whose distributions are not symmetric. Because high Application of skew distributions, in this paper after a brief review of famous skew ...
